We are living in a world with a population of over 8 billion people today. It is natural that everyone has their own sets of beliefs and are raised with their own conditioning. The world would be very boring and there would be no diversity to enjoy if everyone had the exact same thoughts and were brought up in the exact same way. Can you imagine living in a world with only one color? Only one style of building, only one type of tree, one type of flower, and so on. It would be quite depressing wouldn’t you think so? The reason we are constantly engaged with different things throughout our lives is because there is variety. There are a thousand places we want to visit before we die, there are a thousand things we want to do, a hundred things we want to achieve, a variety of foods and fruits to taste, & so on.
Similarly, everyone is brought up in different households with a different upbringing and a different set of beliefs. This is natural, in fact being brought up within one family and one house still creates individuals who are very different. Siblings differ not only from their parents but from their own brothers and sisters. Even though we were raised by the same parents, we have our own sets of likes & dislikes, preferences that don’t match each others. Despite being brought up with the same religion, each of us as adults have diverted into following our own spiritual paths. This is the norm of our world. People are different and are made to be unique. People also have their own free will, that’s the bottom line.
Yet, unfortunately today most of the wars that are happening are due to religion. You find fanatical people of several religions that feel the need to enforce their belief systems onto the general public. So much so that they emphasize that the only way to reach God or heaven is through the one path that they are on. People do not realize that diversity is a beautiful thing. Today if you are open to observing and learning through the thought processes and actions of other people, you benefit in ways that you wouldn’t have if you stick to your limited mindset. Imagine you are driving late at night with your headlights on, all you see is the road ahead of you. Now imagine once the day light is back and you are able to see everything, how much more would you see and experience. By thinking you are always right, you are closing the door to learning more. This world is infinite, yet you decide to limit your thoughts to your own without the possibility of learning from others.
Have you heard the saying, “We are all one”? There is one God but there are many God-realized souls that have lived & continue living on this earth. The phrase “We are all one” literally means we ourselves are God. I understand how profound this statement is at yet how ridiculous it may sound. I too never understood this, and am continuing to seek for answers but some realizations have occurred & are continuing to build on this case for me.
Buddha, Jesus Christ, Dalai Lama, Neem Karoli Baba, Rumi, Ramakrishna, Swami Vivekananda, & countless others were normal people just like us when they came into this world. You can read stories about them & understand that it is only after certain realizations or experiences that they went through that they decided they would seek for God, seek for the oneness. Through multiple and constant spiritual practices, decades of consistent practice did they eventually realize enlightenment and once they realized it, they all said and understood that it was so simple, that they were always already what they thought they were seeking. They were God, many laughed in the moment they got this realization because they always thought God was something or somewhere outside of them. The only difference between these saints and us is their unrelenting effort to attain God realization or Nirvana. Without the focus of seeking, we will not get there.
To explain us being one with the creator in an even simpler way, before taking human birth, we were all consciousness. We are, and have always been, a tiny speck of all-knowing, all-loving light, unlimited in our being, able to do anything and be anywhere we want anytime. The only difference now is that we chose to be put into a human body for a limited time in order to experience and grow through this world and to feel and learn to deal with all of the emotions that come with living this life. We however are still the consciousness within the body but because we see this body, we feel that this body is who we are. Our job here is to remember that we are not this body. Just like the clothing we wear everyday, we will eventually remove this clothing once our time on earth is done & that is usually the moment when people say “oh my God, that wasn’t real”, it was just as if they played a part in a stage performance. If you were to watch any NDE (Near Death Experience) on youtube, you will see that 100% of the people who have experienced one say that same thing, that we go on, life is just a school. Most of them come back and live differently because they know that WE ARE ALL LOVED & WE ARE ALL PART OF GOD.
It is important to remember, every single soul in this planet is here to experience life in their own way, according to their soul needs, & that everyone will have their own set of beliefs. The best thing you can do for yourself & for others is to “Live and let live”. There is no reason for you to force your belief systems into anybody else. We are all here temporarily, we are all on the same journey, let’s try to respect each other and allow each one to find their own way in whatever way feels right in their heart. You focus on your journey and give people the space to enjoy theirs.
Wishing you the best always, may we all have the courage to follow our own hearts.
Ram Ram.
